We can’t believe that 2017 is almost over. But we are already looking ahead. 2018 is poised to bring some exciting new trends in the design world. Here are a few new things and a few continuing trends to look for in the new year.
While 2017 held on strong to its rose gold and sage greens, we expect to see bright colors take over the scene. Use of intense, bold colors allows your graphics to pop in ways that have not been done recently. Keep exploring new ways to use bright colors while not overshadowing your messaging creatively.
In using some bold colors another trend that has been taking shape since Instagram redesigned their logo is the color transition. While this trend may have had a slow rise, we believe that it will continue to be used as designers implement bold color transitions throughout their pieces.
2017 saw a continued use of geometric shapes and simple, minimalist design. We see that while that trend may stay for a while longer on the opposite spectrum is a rising trend of hand-drawn illustrations. They create a more personal feel and the creativity used makes them stand out pieces. Illustrations can be used well in infographics that share information to movie posters and book covers. Expect to see more illustrations combined with photography as well.
Having your typography up front and center and the primary source of design will continue to be widely used. Expect to see more creativity as the text may be cropped or more chaotic in placement
This effect has been used quite often in the last few year, but we do not see a decline in its use. In fact, designers are now leaning towards the duality using duotones and dual lights. We’ll be seeing double for some time now.
