Overwhelmed by screens
In a society that is mostly digital, there are some who would say that print is dead. Most of our information comes from computer screens. A majority of our communication happens through texts or various other apps. Screen time is so prevalent in our society that we can see the backlash as people are suffering from more insomnia due to the blue light emitted from their screens.
Digital is no longer novel
The marketing world is digitally oversaturated. On every web page, there are ads that one must carefully avoid lest they start to follow you. Click on one pop up or shop on Amazon and suddenly that item is seen on your morning news page or creeping along as you work. We also know that people are overwhelmed by their emails. Each morning a fresh onslaught of emails to be deleted. Many signed up to be part of a mailing list, but that carefully crafted messaging never gets to your market because it ends up in the recently deleted box with the rest of the “junk mail.” In a world infused with digital messages, sometimes you need something that will cause you to stand out.
Don’t be bland
This is where print can meet your needs. Now, we are not talking about an everyday folder with a few sheets of paper that you copied in your home office. I’m afraid that is just as likely to end up in the trash like yesterday’s newspaper. But something that is creative, different, and uses different techniques to create an experience or tell a story; well that makes an impression.
Find a balance
Of course to lean too heavily to one side or the other of this marketing spectrum only creates an imbalance. Instead, when looking to market your business or tell your story, try to use both digital marketing and unique print pieces to best reach your target market.
